Tips for Treating Blackheads
Blackheads are not a pleasant skin condition but often occur on men’s skin of many different varieties. If you have oily skin, then you are most susceptible to them.
They occur after pores trap oil which will then harden and change to a black colour. They most often appear on the nose and forehead. They are not limited to these places on the face. Blackheads are not limited to these areas as they can occur anywhere on the body.
It is important to regularly address the areas that suffer from blackheads as they will actually cause the pores to enlarge. This means that the areas that regularly suffer from blackheads can continue to get them unless a regularly grooming routine is followed.
Blackhead Removal
It is a relatively straight forward process to remove blackheads. Firstly, loosen the skin by having a shower or steaming the face. It is also possible to purchase blackhead products that can loosen the skin.
To remove blackheads, squeeze the soft skin onto a sheet of tissue. The blackheads should pop out relatively easily. Any more stubborn blackheads should not be forced out as they can cause damage.
It is also possible to purchase a tool that was designed to remove blackheads. It is called a blackhead extractor and takes the place of removing the blackheads by hand.
Once the blackheads have been removed, an antiseptic should be applied to ensure that no infection will occur. A longer term care is to use a good quality face wash daily. Also an exfoliator should be used at least once if not twice a week and a good quality face mask should also be applied. More details can be found in our Men’s skincare guide.
A good option for people with really stubborn blackheads is to get a facial at a professional salon.
