Male Fashion Revolution
After a long time of being neglected by the fashion world, men are finally getting the attention that they deserve. In the world of fashion magazines, men had to rely on a few pages in one of the more mainstream men’s magazines and London fashion week has often neglected a focus on male fashion unlike its Paris and Milan counterparts.
There are now an array of style magazines dedicated to men, from men’s vogue to fantastic man. Fantastic man is dedicated fashion publication for men. It lacks the negative aspects of many of its traditional competitors and focuses purely on producing articles and features covering the best the male fashion world has to offer.
This year will see the first full day dedicated to menswear in London fashion week. Topman are helping to pioneer the day by collaborating with many new designers for the shows. Topshop has done some pioneering work for women’s fashion and has helped many current designers such as Gareth Pugh. Topman is working with Fashion East to develop the menswear day and will also be pushing a number of new designers.
Its great for new designers to break through, but it is important that there are places for them to sell their work. Generally the super brands dominate most boutiques, however, there are a number of quality boutiques in London that provide a platform for new designers. These include the famous Browns and B Store. Browns is regarded as helping break many of today’s successful designers including Alexander McQueen and John Galliano. B Store prides itself on working with new designers and helping them break through to the mainstream.
Along with the boutiques on the high street, there are many great places for men’s fashion online including Yoox and Oki-Ni. MensGroomingUK.co.uk is also a great place to discover news and features about the latest fashions.
