Every Autumn / Winter, men need to take a look into their wardrobes for their classic Winter knit. Cashmere is arguably the finest material for producing knitwear. Because of this, it is often the most expensive. It is produced from a rare breed of goat in the Gobi desert. There is a lot of hand gathering of the wool which is actually an under down. It can take more than three years to gather enough cashmere to produce one piece of men’s designer knitwear. This is the reason that it is more expensive a material. Even though it is more expensive, cashmere feels fantastic and is worth spending the extra.
Mohair is another popular material for more expensive knitwear. It comes from a breed of goat called angora. It is a very soft form of wool and produces some very high quality product.
Lamb’s wool as the name suggests comes from lambs. It is softer than wool from adult sheep and as such is used in a more high quality products.
