Jil Sander Men
Jil Sander is a fashion designer from Germany. She started out working as a fashion journalist and then opened a boutique in Hamburg. She eventually started her own label in the late seventies.
It took a while for Sander’s collections to be accepted by the fashion world. They were the antithesis of the current trends in the seventies and eighties. She was producing minimal designs which contrasted with the brash and colourful designs of the time. Sander really started to make an impact in the nineties.
Jil Sander was one of the first designers to make their fashion houses a public corporation. She did this in the late eighties and was able to use the capital to fund a large expansion into Asia and the USA. A large number of boutiques were setup around the world.
Jil Sander produces a wide range of men’s fashion and also collaborated with Puma on a collection of men’s trainers.
