Acne is one of many labels from Sweden to be taking hold of the fashion world. It was started in the mid-nineties in Stockholm. Their roots are based in denim and they produce a wide range of styles that are highly sought after. Acne branched out from jeans with their intial complete range in the late nineties. It is a very stylish label that produces some simple pieces with individual finishes.
Acne Jeans and clothes are available in many boutiques around the globe along with their own stores. It is a well respected brand that is expected to grow and grow. Acne stands for “Ambition to Create Novel Expressions”.
Acne presents spring / summer and autumn / winter ranges every year and have a large following in the fashion press. The style of the pieces is very simple, minimal and clean. They fit in with their Scandinavian contemporaries like Filippa K. The region is producing many other popular designers such as J. Lindeberg. They don’t follow a traditional path to promoting their products and shun promoting their products with traditional adverts, preferring to produce their own magazine that they use as a vehicle to produce their products.
Although it has been operational for over 10 years, Acne Jeans clothes only broke out of Scandinavia in the early 2000s. They operate 10 boutiques around the world with plans to open more.
